If you are looking for a bright, slightly fruity loose leaf tea for the summer, we’ve got you covered! I’ve only tried this tea hot so far, but I think it would like a lovely iced tea too! As a hot tea, it has a floral aroma with a blend of light white tea and fruit taste. There is no sweetness, so a bit of honey added would be nice. I’m going to try that next time, for sure.

A pretty and yummy tea! I love the cornflowers that give this loose tea lovley blue specks. The lightly fruity taste is very good both hot and iced. I started with a hot cup but when I got busy and let it get cool I poured it over ice. I liked it iced a bit better. I almost always add a hint of sweetness and this tea way lovely with a little local creamed honey that I got at the Natick Farmers’ Market.

Review: Tea Forte Earl Grey

Tea Forte Earl Grey

Tea Forst Earl Grey

Whenever I prepare these cute little single-serving loose leaf tea packets from Tea Forte I think of Edward Norton’s character from Fight Club and his theories on single serving friends. Then laugh while making my tea. I like these little guys because they are easy to use and travel with.  They taste good too.

Tea Forte Earl Grey follows the traditional blend.  They use organic (Yippee!) and fair trade (right on!) black tea with bergamot.  The black tea is well matched with the bergamot.  There is nothing outstanding or out-of-the-ordinary about this tea, but it is done well and that clearly comes through when you drink it.  The only down side I have found is that even though it is loose leaf tea, many of the pieces were quite small with a few bigger pieces here and there.  Though the convenience and good flavor outweighed this flaw.  Recommended for travel and for the office.  Super easy, tastes good and doesn’t take up much space.

Taste: 4 of 5 leaves – Quite a good cuppa!
Steepability: 4 of 5 leaves — this tea requires very little effort.

Nice and strong with good flavor and body, this Assam tea is incredibly satisfying as a first-thing-in-the-morning cuppa! The caffeine level is what you would expect (and what most of us need) from a morning tea. It pairs well with hearty breakfast food, but has enough of its own flavor to satisfy long after the food is all gone. Most of all, I like the nuttiness found in Forte Breakfast. It also holds just a hint of sweetness that doesn’t turn bitter if steeped for a while, which is great for busy mornings when tea-making is not as precise as maybe it should be.

Forte Breakfast is USDA certified organic! Just another reason to give it a try. We sampled this tea in Tea Forte’s biodegradable filterbags, but it also comes in single serving loose tea packs. Love those too!

Review: Tea Forte Ginger Lemongrass

Overall Rating:

Taste: 5 of 5 leaves: Outstanding! A MUST try
Steepability: 4 of 5 — this tea requires very little effort.

To start off, I love the way this tea is described on the sachet – smooth on the palate with a spicy afterglow. How fun is that! So fun, and accurate, I would say. This is a great tasting tea and it is fun to make in my super-cute Tea Forte mug! (see photos below) Mild to start with a sweet and spicy aftertaste that lingers. Neither the ginger of lemongrass overpower one another and blend well with the licorice root, lemon and spearmint for a satisfying cup. Another thing to love about this tea is the USDA organic certification!

Anyone seeking a bold flavored herbal tea with a unique taste should try this one. Because this is a caffeine free herbal tea, there are no worries about when and how much of it you drink! Hooray for that too!

What a tasty tea! I love the blend of lemongrass and ginger. As some of you know I love sweets. The ginger in this tea adds a little hint of sweet without any honey or sugar. While I typically try a sip unsweetened I often add a bit of honey to my cuppa. Not in this case! The tea doesn’t have a sugary taste, but it has a very well balanced hint of sweet so I decided to not mess with a good thing and drank it just as it was blended without adding anything. Abby gave me some of this tea to try but I will have to go out an buy some of my own ASAP!

I also love how this tea is portioned out. With loose tea I sometimes wonder how much tea they really intend that I use. This seemed like a lot of tea in the packet just for one cup, but it worked out perfectly. If you haven’t yet, you should give the ‘single steeps‘ a try.
