Katie and I don’t get to see each other as much as we’d like since we now live in different states. But when we do get together we try to catch up as much as we can and that often means a big tea swap! Last time we met up she give me this tea to try from Plum Deluxe. Oregon Breakfast from Plum deluxe is a blend of strong black tea and honeybush tea with hazelnuts and orange peel. Dry, this tea is a very pretty mix of black and white. Once steeped it has a beautiful floral and citrus aroma, definitely something that will help wake you up. The hazelnut flavor adds a more depth that you would get with a traditional breakfast tea. It make each sip nutty and a little bit sweet. For me the orange peel was lacking in the tea taste, but did add to the aroma.

I would drink this tea again and again, especially on cold winter mornings here in Maine. Give this tea a try if you like strong morning tea with a little something extra.

Funny story about this tea. I got the sample a while ago but finally got the chance to meet up with Abby. I was staying at my parents’ and they do not usually have caffeinated tea in the house. (Oh the horror!) It was a tea emergency! I remembered that I had this sample and started to jump for joy until I realized that it was loose tea and my mom hadn’t yet unpacked her tea strainer. Then I realized that it had been sent in a canvas bag. So, I hand washed the bag, steeped the leaves & water together in a Pyrex, and then poured through the bag to trap the leaves. It worked! My morning was saved!

This tea is not only delicious but it says right on the package that it’s infused with love. Maybe it’s the hippie in me, but there is something  extra fun about having love & gratitude listed as ingredients. It’s like drinking good karma! This particular tea is a really interesting blend. I have to say, at first I wasn’t sure about hazelnut & orange. The nutty flavor makes this tea really unique. I agree with Abby, the Orange flavor is very mild, but makes for an enjoyable tea! If you’re looking for something different for your morning wake-up give this a try! I hope you enjoy the nutty & slightly fruity flavor as much as I did!
