Tea as ritual

I saw this post about tea as a ritual and I really like the idea of it. The author, Anne, writes: “It seemed that no matter how hard I tried to plan lifestyle changes into my day, they simply wouldn’t stick…until one day I ignored my emails in the morning and sat down with a cup of tea and my journal.”

This made me think and the more I rolled it around my brain the more I liked the idea. I thought, do I have a tea ritual? Should I? Making a cup of tea is one of the first things I do when I walk in my photo studio each morning. I like to have the same kind, black, prepared the same way, with honey and creamer. I don’t typically chug down my tea in the car. I like to get to work first, steep it for the correct amount of time, remove the tea bag, and stir it with a real spoon — having to use a plastic one I find to be a real drag. Preparing my tea, in my studio, signals the start of my work day. I sip my tea as I make a game plan for my day. So, I guess I do have a bit of a tea ritual myself. Do you?
