Review: Stash Peach Cobbler Guayusa Tea

Stash Tea was kind enough to send us samples of their teas from their pyramid tea bag collection to review.* Thank you!

Once again we are reviewing a dessert style tea from Stash! These wonderful smelling, sweet blends certainly are a treat to review! Pun intended. 🙂 This time we have Peach Cobbler: guayuas (an Amazonian caffeinated herbal tea) blended with cassia, orange peel, honeybush, natural white peach flavor, natural caramel flavor to creat a satisfying cup. All the flavors come together nicely to create what really tastes like a peach cobbler! The sweetness is there, as well as fruity notes, with a little bit of acidity. This tea comes in the wonderful pyramid tea bag just like Stash Black Forest Cake Pu-erh tea we reviewed last week. This vessel is great for tea blends, because it allows you to really see the tea and the tea is able to move around while steeping.

Note: This type of tea bag may not be compost friendly, but you can cut the bag open and compost the steeped tea.

I really enjoyed drinking this tea in the morning, because it gave me the energy I needed to start off the work week, but it also has a warm, comfort food aspect to it (guilt free, of course). It is also loaded with those very important antioxidants… so it tastes great and its good for me! Because I was drinking this tea for the first time in the wee hours of the morning I was reminded of hot oatmeal with fruit and brown sugar. Yum. This tea would be great for anyone looking for a sweet, fruity, herbal tea with a kick. It is not overly sweet, so I think this tea would appeal to many tea-lovers.

Taste: 4.5 of 5 tea leaves – Quite a good cuppa!

These new dessert teas from Stash smell so fantastic that once you open them you simply HAVE to try a cup right away. In this tea, like the Stash Black Forest Cake Pu-erh tea we reviewed last week, you can taste all of the elements of the dessert for which it is named. The is a hint of crumbly crust and cinnamon spiced peach! It is quite incredible.

The shape of the tea bag is quite nice and allows the tea to move freely and steep. There are just two small reasons that this tea earns a 4 instead of 5 from me. One, the strings are too short! If you use a good-sized mug the tag falls in. Two, I would like this to be a bit stronger. While I love the flavor I find the bag to only be enough for a small mug. If you enjoy a large cuppa — use two bags!

Taste: 4.5 of 5 tea leaves – Quite a good cuppa!
Steepability: 5 of 5 tea leaves – This tea is easy to make.

*Please note that we are just as critical of free teas as the ones we purchase. If we get a sample we don’t like we won’t include it on our blog.
