What could be better than relaxing on the couch while admiring your vast creativity and superior Christmas tree decorating skills?  Doing it with a hot cup of flavorful tea that smells amazing.  With the little lights sparkling and the cat sleeping under the tree (read: plotting attack on the lower ornaments) a good cup of tea was in order to top it all off.

Tazo Wild Sweet Orange tea has a fun zesty flavor and a sweetness that makes it easy to drink!  A combination of lemongrass, citrus herbs, licorice root and orange essences give this tea a nice complexity without being muddled.  The bright citrus has a peppy quality, which is just what I needed after all of the lugging, straightening , decorating, sweeping and admiring. It is also a caffeine-free herbal tea, so it can be had any time of the day without worry.

This is one of my favorite fruit herbal teas. It has a strong and distinct orange tangy flavor so I do need to be in the right mood for that taste. When adding a sweetener I like to use just a little honey or sugar. It is very good in the summer as an iced tea with a hint of sweet and a fresh orange slice. Caution: adding too much sugar can make this tea taste like those powdered instant orange drinks. I find that happens with some herbal fruit teas…add too much sugar and it reminds me of a kid’s drink — the super sugary kinds that I was never allowed to have! Perhaps that’s why I don’t have a taste for them?

Yesterday I had this tea for lunch with a sesame stir-fry and it was very good! I didn’t have any orange flavors in the food, but the orange and sesame flavors work well together and therefore this made for a perfect pairing. You do have to make sure that the orange flavor compliments your meal if you’re going drink this tea with food because it could easily clash. I also love this tea when I feel like I’m getting sick or have a sore throat. The strong orange small and taste are powerful enough to come through even if you’ve got compromised taste buds!
