Review: Teapigs Marakesh Mint

Overall Rating:

Taste: 4 of 5 leaves – Quite a good cuppa!
Steepability: 4 of 5 – This tea requires very little effort.

Temperature: @180 (below boiling)
Steeped: 3-4 minutes
Served: Nothing added

With a mild green tea undertone and lingering mint flavor this is a nice relaxing bagged tea.  The green tea blends well with the mint flavor and yields an overall mild taste and balanced.  Strong mint flavor is not something I enjoy as I am quickly reminded of brushing my teeth, so I was pleased with the more subtle mint presented in this tea.

Lovely for an afternoon cup, because of the lower level of caffeine and relaxing mint.  Be careful not to over steep, because it will get bitter if let alone too long.

Taste: 3 of 5 tea leaves – A decent, tasty tea.
Steepability: 4 of 5 tea leaves – This tea requires very little effort.

First, you have to visit the Teapigs website. Cool stuff from a fun UK company! Although, not to worry, they do ship to the US. Otherwise we wouldn’t bother blogging about them. I have to say, the Brits really know what they’re doing when it comes to tea. It’s worth having some shipped to you just to have a unique tea. They say: “Whilst haggling in the souks of Morocco, we discovered tea with mint and sugar – lots of sugar – as the Moroccans love their tea sweet – very, very sweet.” Well, I have a sweet tooth. So I tried this tea without any sugar, and it was OK, and then I tried it with two heaping spoonfuls. YUM! It was refreshing, in the same way as a sweetened iced tea, but warm and delicious. What tasted mostly of green with a hint of mint unsweetened transformed into a well balanced green & minty treat with the addition of sugar. This is one to bring to a get-together with girlfriends as a fun conversational tea. Perhaps host a dinner and serve Morrocan food? You’ll have a leg up with this authentic beverage! And, just take a look at what’s inside the bag (photo above). You’re gotta love it when you find the quality of loose tea paired with the convenience of a tea bag!
